In British Columbia, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) recommends that learners complete supervised practice sessions between formal lessons delivered by ICBC Licensed Instructor.

Qualified supervisor must be at least 25 years old, holding a valid Class 5 or Class 6 driver's license, ave held the license for a minimum of four years.
